The pond and stream had already been constructed by another company
some years earlier, but the client felt it was in-need of an overhaul
using natural materials to blend in with the surroundings.

The first job was to clear all of the cobbles and boulders and
to create a constant level for the main pond area.
Next we built in the new water-falls using natural stone that
were covered in moss.
Large boulders were concreted into position, so the water would
cascade into the main pond.
Around the pond edge, stone walls were built to retain the soil
of the higher ground areas.
The waterfalls created an area of water behind each one so the
whole system had seven waterfalls with seven pools to fall into
before reaching the main pool.
The stream area had moss covered stones added and the sides
planted. The main pond area had plants added and a natural stone
rock out-crop was added to one side to view the pond and areas
around.
Instead of pointing between the stones on the viewing area we
added soil and seeded it with a covering of – "mind
your own business", this spreads between the rocks and breaks up the
large stone area. Appearance will be a little softer and easier
on the eye. Because the site got a lot of northerly winds, we
chose hardy plants of grasses, ferns and some low ground cover.
